Gateau Invisible
Gateau Invisible. Add the milk and melted butter and mix well. Using a rubber spatula, coat the apples well with the batter.
Add the salt, baking powder, and flour and whisk again to combine.
Whisk eggs with sugar until pale and light.
It gets it's name from the layers upon layers of thin apple slices that seem to disappear into each other. In a nod to the popularity of gateau invisible in Japan, this version is subtly flavored with salty-sweet white miso, and served with a miso caramel sauce. Originating in France, Gâteau invisible aux pommes, or invisible apple cake, features lay upon layer of thinly sliced apples bound in a sweet, custardy batter.
